You don’t always need a classic game to be paired with candy and limited-time events. You’re not going to find anything here that reinvents the wheel, and to be honest, it’s kind of nice. The NYT crossword is a super straightforward app. There’s also a desktop version on the NYT’s website if you want to give that a go. There’s a mobile app version of the game so you can play it without needing to fiddle with all of that newspaper nonsense. I’ve tried to include a mix of old and new, paid and free, and challenging and simple games so that you have plenty of options to choose from. These are games that I’m either actively playing or have played over the years. I’ve done a few “best of” lists here on AppleToolBox for gaming, and today, I want to cover my favorite word games for iPhone. It’s also pretty mindless most of the time, making it great to do while watching a show. It’s a puzzle, it challenges your brain, it makes you feel like you’re doing something smart. There is something so satisfying about a good word game. And perhaps my favorite category of junkie games is word games for iPhone. I’m sorting test tubes, watching goblins mine for gold, battling others, jumping to avoid lava, or working on a sudoku around the clock. About once per week, I get hooked on something new. One of my guilty pleasures is trying out new iPhone games.
